Lab equipment

The labs are designed to use basic household items you might find in your junk-drawer.

The McMaster Campus Bookstore sells a Physics 1A03 lab kit, which contains the materials we use.

The lab kit that we use has the items listed below. We note that many substitutions are possible.

• elastic bands

• paperclips

• clear plastic box (this is for Snell’s law, a clam shell container will do)

• protractor/ruler (this protractor is large and has a decent ruler on it as well, so a separate ruler is not required)

• measuring tape

• rubber bouncy ball

• spring (we have used these coil lanyards, but even better are custom made springs from Springs & Things Inc. ask for PART #S&T-2775)
